Central Location Testing

 What is Central Location Testing?

  • In Central Location Testing (CLT) consumers attend a product test held at a specific testing location.

  • A CLT can be held in a shopping mall, school or church hall, restaurant, testing lab or other location.

  • The testing venue often dictates the level of environmental control, as the respondents evaluate the products and fill out their ballots.

Why Use Central Location Testing?

A CLT can:

  • Help control the testing environment to eliminate bias, such as product evaluation order, smells or branding

  • Allow your test to be run near your target consumers, helping you get the right respondents for your test, and the right number of responses.

Using Compusense Cloud for CLTs

With Compusense Cloud you can…

  • Set up tests to be run at multiple remote locations

  • Ensure consistency in your tests and analysis across all your testing locations.

  • Ensure that all testing suppliers use your procedure, not their own.

Case Study

  • A global quick serve restaurant (QSR) was preparing to introduce a new menu item internationally.

  • In order to efficiently reach multiple markets at once, they intended to work with several testing suppliers to conduct CLTs in different countries to conduct the tests.

  • One of the immediate challenges was that each supplier had their own approach, so testing was not consistent across locations.

  • Comparing market response across regions is difficult and inconsistent when the methods and quality of suppliers’ test results are variable.

  • By using Compusense Cloud, the QSR was able to create a single test (standard ballot) that was run at each CLT location.

  • Consistent data was immediately collected into the same database from each location.

  • Immediate consistency in data collection and reporting.

  • Saved many hours in reformatting and “clean up” of each supplier’s data.

  • Made rapid and confident decisions with reliable data and consistent reporting.
